Elias Brodie needed money and fast to take care of his crumbling castle, family interests, and rapidly increasing family hands being held out for more cash. Elias has been raised by eccentric enabling uncle after the death of his parents so interacting with all these family members is now his job as the Laird of the Land with the death of his uncle. Elias has to jump start his ability to understand what is going on, even when it makes him get on a plane to find out what he is to do with acreage in Maryland. Elias is not a farmer but he might reconsider his chosen occupation as the neighbor across the road is more than stunningly beautiful, she is breath taking. Violet Hughes is all about the land and not about some nosy new neighbor she fears is looking for a quick sale to developers. She will do the right thing and be a good neighbor if she has to, but one look at him and that is not the least of what she wants to do with him.Violet is a generational farmer which Elias knows nothing about it and he only cares about the money it will provide him. However, what Elias and Violet do know is they are seriously attracted to each other in a manner of such fiery intensity they may burn the bedroom down to the first floor. Now Violet saw this as a one night hookup and Elias felt there was a future for them just not sure how he could work that out with them oceans apart. Yet every time they swear they have to part company and stay away from each other they find themselves once again discussing the best use for conservation and stealing kisses in the dark and caresses until light.
When a determined veracity Elias works a plan here and a scheme there to get the dogs at the gate to stay at bay while he maneuvers his way around to Violet’s side of the road permanently, if that is possible. Elias has family in his corner and a long history of being a good steward for the land. If the pieces of this puzzle fit together then maybe Elias and Violet will wind up on the same side of the ocean.
Grace Burrowes fans of historical romance must pick up her contemporary reads as well. They have magic in the words, captivation in the characters, and love all around each page.

I'm a big fan of Grace Burrowes's books! She has such a marvelous voice! Her characters in this book are so real I feel as if I know them personally. This is the first contemporary of hers that I've read, and it won't be the last.
Although I enjoy Grace Burrowes historical stories better, her current series are fun. I like the links to the historical series. I would probably give this a 4.5 stars because a few times I wanted the characters to figure it out but it was well written as always.
I LOVE EVERY GRACE BURROWES BOOK I'VE READ AND I THINK I'M UP TO AT LEAST 20. IF YOU LIKE ROMANCE BUT DON'T WANT EROTICA, GRACE BURROWES IS AN AUTHOR YOU SHOULD TRY. ELIAS IN LOVE IS A BIT SHORTER THAN MOST OF HER BOOKS, BUT WELL WORTH THE READ.
As always, Grace Burrowes pleases. I enjoy the contemporary stories as well as the historical novels. I look forward to her books...buying them on reputation alone. I can't wait for the next installment. I know that her other releases will tide me over.
I have fallen in love with two leading men in Grace Burrowed books, Elias from this book and Joseph Carrington. I am a push over for a man who has a fond feeling of love and protect tion for his women. Grace never gets it wrong. Thank you
Don't read this book looking for angsty characters that wrestle with deep, human soul-wrenching traumatic back stories - although they are here. This is a book with a lighter touch and a deft hand. Great characters and surprises throughout. This is a book filled with the kind of characters that you want to know and have a barbeque with, and a compelling and realistic, contemporary story. Well done!
I really enjoyed this book. My litmus test is always "am I sorry to say goodbye to the characters? Do I wish there were many more books about these characters? Was it thought-provoking and did I learn something new in this book? Did I care about the characters in this book as if I actually knew them?" And the answer to all is a resounding YES! I like that Grace Burrowes has other novellas that tell the story of other characters in the book - and I hope there's a book in the future sharing the story of Jeannie and Max -) I loved learning about farm conservation and the state of same in our country.
